About the Squadron

The State Flight Squadron conducts strategic air transport with the mission to transport the head of state and the country's highest civilian and military leadership. The aviation operations are carried out every day of the year to all corners of the world with high demands on availability and safety.

The squadron is now entering an intensive and exciting development phase. In 2026, we will upgrade from the current air transport system TP102 to the state-of-the-art system TP106 - Global 6500.

At the same time, there is a clear direction for our operations to grow to eventually serve as the platform for the Armed Forces' next generation airborne command and reconnaissance capability with S106 - Global Eye.

We are now looking for someone who wants to help build this organization from the ground up – a journey that broadens today's strategic aviation operations with both an operational and tactical role in air defense.

Main Responsibilities

As a planning engineer, your tasks will include planning, preparing, ordering, and following up on maintenance, being responsible for budget and maintenance economy, as well as collaborating with the service manager within aircraft maintenance related to aircraft material system 106.

Examples of additional tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and ordering maintenance (including for stored components)
  • Supporting units with analysis of data from operational monitoring systems
  • Collaborating with personnel within the local aircraft maintenance organization that conducts planning of aircraft, maintenance orders, etc.
  • Collaborating with CPI regarding the need for external maintenance on aircraft
  • Participating in IPT for Technical Orders (TO) and other publications
  • Initiating, preparing, and producing maintenance planning to maintain continued airworthiness of the materials in use
  • Ordering LV review from an authorized reviewer
  • In the absence of CPI - performing their tasks as needed.
  • Operating within the military unit during missions and exercises.

Qualifications

  • Relevant education as an engineer or aircraft technician.
  • Good experience with operational monitoring and support systems
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Driver's license B manual transmission
  • Swedish citizenship and approved security and background check

Personal Qualities

The work as a systems engineer requires that you are quality-conscious, meticulous, responsible, structured, and service-oriented to achieve good flight safety. You also need to be proactive and have a high work capacity. It is important that you work well in a team and are good at building trusting relationships, but also have a good ability to work independently within your area of responsibility.

Meritorious

  • Familiarization course on Bombardier Global 6000/6500
  • Knowledge of SE-EMAR M/145, EASA Part M/Part 145
  • Training in Aircraft Material Services
  • Training in FENIX Preparation, Planning, and Reporting
  • Training in Contract Preparation
  • Training in Ordering
  • Good knowledge of the Armed Forces' relevant IT systems (PRIO, Fenix, CMP)
  • Good knowledge of the Air Force

Employment form: Permanent employment. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period.

The position requires physical and mental capacity. Travel in service occurs for both work and personal training. Since both the position and tasks are linked to a military organization, you will also be placed in our organization for military service. Skaraborg Air Wing is a versatile and unique air wing. Here you will find combat aircraft as well as the Armed Forces' combined resources for transport and special aviation. We conduct basic and position training for conscripted recruits and train all Swedish and foreign Gripen pilots. The unit also participates in many missions. In Sweden, operations are conducted in Såtenäs, Malmen, Arlanda, and Karlsborg. Abroad, we are responsible for Gripen support in Thailand and for the Swedish personnel in the international transport aviation cooperation Heavy Airlift Wing in Hungary.
